Where old runestones become like new!

The Runestone Park is
an outdoor exhibition of ancient rune stones depicted in natural size, painted with bright colors to show what they looked like a 1000 years ago, at the end of the Viking Age.

Well made and detailed
The runestones in the park are so well made and detailed that they can be used for both research and studies. A visit to the Runestone park is an experience that makes you look at rune stones with completely new eyes.

A Nordic art tradition
Runestones have a unique Nordic form where dragons, snakes and other images together with runes creates a lasting work of art that carries greetings from the Viking Age to the present, and in case with newly made runestones, also to the future.

The runestone U6 from Birka
was broken a long time ago. Several fragments have been found and are displayed at the museum in Birka.

In the Runestone park, the fragments have been put together, given new colors and once again erected. Here you can now see what the runestone once looked like.

The runestones at Runestone Park

A sign with information in English and Swedish is available at each runestone. You can visit the park on your own, at your own pace, visit my workshop where new runestones are being made or go for a Viking Age themed quiz walk.

The Runestone park has a voluntary entrance fee.
You only pay what you want.
Suggested voluntary admission is SEK 50.

What else is in the park?

My runestone workshop
In the park I have my runestone workshop where I cut new runestones by hand, using the traditional tools: a sledgehammer and a chisel. If I am on site, feel free to come and have a look and ask questions. If you have booked me as a guide, a workshop tour is included.

A Quiz Walk
Following the cut paths in the park you will find 13 tricky questions (1 X 2). At the end of the walk you can correct your answers. You compete against yourself or your friends. There are no awards, only personal honor and fame.

A kiosk
Limited supply and uneven opening hours. Coffee, soft drinks, ice cream and tourist information etc.

Flea market
Recycling at its best.
In the well-stocked flea market, you may find exactly what you have been looking for for so long ....

You do not need to report your visit.
Come when it suits you and visit the park on your own in peace and quiet. Admission is voluntary, you only pay if you want.

Note!
If you are a larger group, you must pre-book your visit.

A larger group consists of more than 10 people.

If you announce your visit in advance.
Then you will find out if we are there, if the kiosk and flea market are open, etc.

If you pre-book a visit with me as a guide.

Then you get a personal guided tour among the park's runestones and a presentation of my runestone workshop. You can also pre-book coffee and snacks from the kiosk.

The Runestone park has been adapted for bus groups.
